Ewan has won the 11th stage of the event, a 167km flat ride from Albi. He won the sprint by centimeters with a well timed run and surge past Dylan Groenewegen pipping him at the finish line.
The former Moss Vale resident timed his effort perfectly to add to his solitary Vuelta a Espana stage win and his three Giro d'Italia victories.
This is Ewan's first Tour de France and after his victory he took to Twitter saying that if he he didn't do anything in his life again after this point "at least I can say If I don't do anything in my life again after this point at least I can say I won a stage of the @LeTour."
He added the result was an "absolute dream come true for me!"
President of Southern Highlands Cycling Club Zac Hulm said this is a momentous event for cycling in the Highlands.
"The Southern Highlands Cycling Club is very excited that Caleb has had five podiums," Hulm said.
"Now he's won a stage in his first Tour De France and that's an amazing feat.
"He's always been a really focused rider. It's excellent to see him achieving all his goals through a lot of hard work."
Like many around the world that were glued to their television sets, Ewan's friends from the Highlands were no doubt doing the same.
"I'm sure there were a lot of Southern Highland riders staying up to watch him," Hulm said.

"That includes me, and it goes to show what you can do when you put your mind to something. He's such a humble guy.
"He's a lovely man and in the last 12 months he's married and had a baby, yet still remained so focused on his craft. I wish him all the best."
