The Jamberoo Mountain Mens Cup occurred at Hampden Park Robertson at 3 pm played by a mix of the mens teams from the Robertson-Burrawang Rovers Soccer Club and the Jamberoo Football Club.
It was officiated by Dave Noble of the Highlands Soccer Referees Association.
The Jamberoo Mountain Cup is a joint initiative between RBRSC and JFC to consist of an annual pre-season mens and ladies match, followed by drinks and dinner at their respective major sponsors, the Robertson Bowling Club and Jamberoo Pub.
Robertson hosted the first match and Jamberoo will host in 2020 with the event to alternate venue into the future.
The match was played in great spirit and was an opportunity for both clubs to get a decent run in before the season proper commences.
The Robertson team was a mix of players from their two Highlands League teams coached by Danny Hol and their new youth grade side coached by David Wright, with both coaches participating in the match.
Captain and Coach, Danny Hol lead the way with Robertson's only goal. His brother Garry worked hard, displaying the match passion and mentorship we know him for.
The Cup travelled to Jamberoo Football Club for 2019 with a sound 6-1 victory over the developing Robertson sides.
Robertson started strong but over time fewer numbers coming off the bench took its toll, the defence started to waver and Jamberoo made the most of the weaker moments.
Robertson's youth grade players were promising with Nick Neilsen and Kurt Crawford making strong runs toward goal and Chester Kelly doing some hard work both in defence and attack.
The match enabled Robertson to show case the maroon version of their new playing shirts, made possible with the support of major sponsors the Robertson Bowling Club and Creatio, along with sleeve sponsors Peggy's Bistro and Wicks Works.
The gold version of our new shirts was unveiled on Friday night during the ladies pre-season Cup match played against Moss Vale.
The Robertson ladies did not get the result in the Cup match but were glad of the opportunity to run a newly constructed team in a match environment in preparation for season kick off on 30th March.
Our new first grade goalkeeper Bec Mauger proved a good choice receiving the referee's call for player of the match in her first ever match of soccer.
The Robertson sides now turn their attention to their first round of the regular season and will make the most of their final training sessions to work on what they've learnt in the pre-season matches.
