All three pennant teams due to play at Bowral on Saturday had the matches canceled and the games set down to be played on Sunday, March 31.
That weekend will be busy in the lives of lawn bowlers as it will mean a double header with matches on the Saturday and Sunday.
With no bowls on Saturday, it became a opportunity for the men's committee to call a meeting to tell members of on future directions of the bowls program.
President Gordon Lewis outlined the format for the meeting, which was well attended by members.
They also raised details of concern that have been discussed with the club board of directors.
Vice president, Dougald Braithwaite, who is the sponsorship manager, gave details on where sponsorship dollars go, and outlined the importance of sponsors.
We are lucky to have extremely good sponsors for our tournaments, and he has spoken to other sponsors who are showing interest in being part of the lawn bowls community.
Vice president Carl Spilker made an address regarding a future tournament that will involve Australian internationals and top line bowlers, to be held in October. There will also be satellite events to gain entry to the main event.
This will overcome the problem for the everyday bowler, who will have the opportunity to enter and try to qualify to play along side the top bowlers.
Before the close of the meeting, members had the opportunity to ask questions.
Members appreciated that the committee had shared the various programs they are working on for the benefit of bowlers.
The pennant bowls being washed out, the time was put to good use by the members meeting.
