She picked up the love of the sport through family and friends and is now heading Apple Isle to showcase her talents.
Highlander, Tessa Good has been accepted into the 2019 Hockey NSW U18 Women’s Blues Team and will be competing in Hobart throughout April.
“I was really excited when I found out I had made the team,” Tessa said.
“I was a little nervous as well. I felt a lot of pressure as I have to go away to Hobart which is a long way from home. But I’m really happy all of the training paid off.”

The tournament will run from April 9-17. Tessa will be coached by former Hockeyroo, Kate Jenner and assistant coach Glenn Johnston. She’s been training hard to impress them and her teammates.
“I’ve trained every Monday with my squad,” Tessa said.
“I’ve been to around three or four camps with my squad and that prepared me for my trial for the under 18s.”
The game of hockey was ingrained into Tessa as a child. Travelling to her school, she found herself surrounded by the sport and thus solidifying her future in the sporting code.
“I went to Kangaroo Valley Public School and a lot of people were playing hockey down there,” she said.
“My dad and a lot of my other family are into hockey as well, they played it so it was a natural progression and I just gave it a go.”
Tessa plays in the midfield and enjoys the attacking mid position.
The midfielder has responsibilities on both offence and defence. Their mind must also be in the game at all times.
“I like it because you’re doing a little of everything,” Tessa said.
“You get to attack and defend and I really enjoy doing both of those things.”
With 2019 just beginning, there is no pressure for Tessa to fill her year up and overwhelm herself thinking of future competitions.
I am really focused on playing well this tournament. That’s the only aim I have at the moment with hockey.

Her mind is solely on her upcoming competitions but it’s not just victory or competition that is lighting the fiery passion of hockey, it’s new experience opportunities and meeting new people.
“I am really focused on playing well this tournament,” Tessa said.
“That’s the only aim I have at the moment with hockey. That’s my main goal.
“But I really love the people I’ve met on my way through hockey also.
“They have been some of the most amazing people I’ve met in my life.
“I’ve had some brilliant coaches, each one with a different style and I’ve met girls which have become some of my best friends through the sport.
“I love going to new places to play and it’s all been really amazing so far and I can’t wait to accomplish all those things in Hobart.”
