With big margins the order of the day, Mick Flynn and Ashley Lewis defeated Gordon Lewis and Greg Lewis 17-10. Flynn and Lewis had a 16-2 lead when a change came over the match.

Colin Stone and Peter Morales defeated Joe O’Donnell and Clive neutze 19-10.
Keith Edwards and Owen Williams defeated Merv Johnston and Rick Reynolds 25-6.
Bill Pope, Lloyd Rowan and Dan Ticehurst defeated Kel Limbrick John Cummins and Don Coleman 17-6.
For a good result to be achieved, the lead position has the most responsibility. The lead sets the pattern for each end. In men’s bowls he is responsible for,
1) placing the mat as decided by his captain after the first end.
2) rolling the jack as directed.
3) having the jack aligned on the centre line.
4) carrying out the duties of director in a game of pairs when at the head end.
