Bowlers were more in favour of staying home, then playing in the hot conditions and recovering from Christmas than being on the greens but it was acknowledged that some of the die hard players had to have a game.
Glen Giese, Gordon Lewis and Don Coleman defeated Keith Edwards, Peter Morales and Bob Edwards, 21-16.
The first eight ends were very tight with team Coleman just in front, 10-9.
Just as the rain came on the 13th end, team Coleman had more bowls in the head and leading 17-9.
A twenty minutes break was taken .In many respects this was good for team Edwards because on resuming they scored four shots on the 14th end and then scored three shots on the 15th end to only trail by one shot at 17-16.
Having been given a fright, team Coleman regrouped and ended up winners by six shots.
Owen Williams and Carl Spilker defeated Rick Reynolds and Mick Flynn 28-12.
Williams and the ‘fit young’ Spilker were actually in top form for this clash and many of their shots proved top class.
Reynolds and Flynn were looking for ways to get back into the match but coming up against Williams and Spilker, this was not to be their day.
Reynolds and Flynn were simply outclassed but saying that, they only trailed 14-9 at the half way mark.
