Sofia Wilson took up the game of football from the influence of a family member.
“My brother played football and I wanted to join in,” Sofia said.
“So I started playing and have done since. I’ve played football for five years now.”

Under her coaches advice, Sofia applied for the IAS scholarship.
“My coach wanted me to go for it,” she said.
“I listened to the advice, said yes and just went for it.”
Sofia can’t wait to immerse herself in the game and all the other aspects that come along with it.
“All the training that will be apart of the scholarship will really help my skills,” Sofia said.
“I think it will elevate my game and it will help with the social aspects of the game also.”
Upon hearing she had received the IAS scholarship, Sofia couldn’t wait to tell everyone.
“I was thrilled when I received the scholarship,” she said.
“I told everyone about it, I was so excited and I’m just so thankful to the IAS and all the sponsors.”
Sofia’s next 12 months will be tough but she’s looking forward to the challenges that await.
“I’ll be having a training session each week over the next 12 months,” she said.
“There will be gym sessions, camps and I’ll be playing some games throughout the year also.”
