There have been major re-signings, coaching changes and a new ladies tackle team announced.
New coaches of the under-18s squad, Jack Smith and Ray Stone have gone above and beyond to get their squad ready for the coming 2019 season.
Stone recently made his debut in the NRL with the Paramatta Eels against the Melbourne Storm in August of this year.
Moss Vale Dragons president, Paul Maloney said he was excited for the young coaches to begin the job.
“They’re going to bring a whole new perspective in the under 18s,” Maloney said.
“Ray is apart of the Paramatta Eels squad and the way he dedicates his time to us is fantastic.
“I also coached Jack in the under 18s and he wants to get back involved and help us anyway he can.
“They held an introduction barbecue to welcome the new players.
“They’re forming new bonds with these players before the season has begun and I hope it injects some new life into the club.
With the 2018 season recently winding up, Matt Conquest has already re-signed with the Dragons for 2019.
Conquest came close to the top of the tackle count in every game last season.
Maloney believes Conquest will take his game to the next step in the 2019 season.
“He’s got a full season of hard first grade under his belt.
“He was one of our standout forwards and added to the other imports we had.
“He’s a real goer and plays so passionately, he gives everything he has to the club.
Also re-signing with the Dragons for 2019 are,
- Jack Webb
- Dan Lovell
- Luke Clarke
For the first time, the Moss Vale Dragons will introduce their first ever women’s tackle squad for the 2019 season.
“It’s a history making thing,” Maloney said.
“This is the first women’s tackle squad for Moss Vale if not for the Highlands.
“They’re stepping up from the Ladies League Tag (LLT) and we’re very excited about this opportunity for them.”
“I know from last years LLT these ladies are going to be some tough competition.”
