It was an exciting game that finished in a tie with both teams dismissed for 151.
Mittagong batted first with Drew Bagatella (47) and Hunter Schrader-Wright (41) making the bulk of the runs for their side.
Nathan Triffit then took a few wickets as the match ended in a draw
Mittagong captain Marco Basiglia said it was a good performance from his side given it was the first game of the season and a completely new side from last season.
One of the team’s younger players Harry Hogan bowled well and Lachlan Homes was good with both the bat and ball.
Following a few dropped catches, Basiglia said they would work on an improved fielding performance before their next match.
In a grand final rematch, Bowral Blues faced Wingello.
This time it was the Blues that claimed victory.
Wingello had first use of the crease and batted well with James Baldwin top scoring with 77.
Blues bowler Brett McAulay almost got a hat-trick but finished up with 4-10 off his eight overs.
Bowral Blues then stepped up with the bat- Ben Dunn scored 41 while Ben Tucker and Nick Bell batted well to get them home.
Bell, who scored 55, hit a six off a no ball to bring up his half century and win the game.
Blues captain Craig Rheynolds said with a similar side to last year, it was a good way to start the season.
In the other second grade match, Robertson enjoyed a win over Bowral in the opening round of the competition.

Robertson won the toss and elected to bat.
They posted a total of 215 and key contributions with the bat were from Aaron de Jager (74) and Brendon McDonald (40)
Robertson also put in a good bowling performance with Chris Hayden taking 5-19 and McDonald proving to be a safe set of hands in the outfield.
“It was a good strong team performance for the start of the year. Hopefully we can keep it up,” Robertson captain Justin Middleton said.
He said several of the club’s younger players had stepped up into the second grade side this season and players such as Nick Wilson, Cameron Clay and Riley Hurford had all performed well in the first game.
Bowral captain Pete Dehossen said it was a good match despite the loss.
He was impressed with two of the team’s new players Angus and James Malcolm.
Dehossen said Angus, who opened the bowling, did not get much reward for his efforts but bowled a good line and length.
Ryan Haigh made a quick 27 to keep Bowral in the match and wicketkeeper William Levick had a good game behind the stumps and also made a handy 28 runs with the bat, while Phil Sherley took a great catch at first slip.
Dehossen had a good day with the ball in hand, finishing with figures of 3-32 and he said Max Lambie “bowled really well with his leg breaks”.
He said the match was well officiated by Angus Humphries and thanked the HDCA for its efforts to have official umpires at second grade matches throughout the season, which was appreciated by players.
