The 15-year-old Southern Highlands racer continued his consistent rookie season in the championship, banking more solid points with a trio of top 10 finishes, and now sits in sixth place in the series standings.
But Mineeff said in slightly different circumstances, he could have achieved a lot more.
“The car was strong all weekend, but there were a couple of occasions where things didn’t quite work to our advantage,” he said.
“In qualifying, the car was good but our best lap was interrupted by a red flag and we ended up eighth.”
He said he believed the car had the speed to challenge for a top five result in each of the races but was unable to do do.
“In the first race, the car took a bit longer to come on than expected, but it was a rocket at the end. Once I cleared the traffic, I started to catch the cars in front.
“In race two, there was an intense battle from about second down to eighth and I was able to stay with the lead pack for the whole race. In the third race our pace was strong but we lost the lead pack early, and once you fall out of the slipstream of the cars in front, it becomes hard to catch them up again.”
For Mineeff, the highlight of the weekend was being able to race in front of the Supercars audience.
“It was my first time competing at such a big event, and the atmosphere was unreal,” he said.
“Overall, we scored a good bundle of points but it would have been nice to have been a bit closer to the front of the field. We’ll go away and evaluate our performance, and aim to be in the top five for the next round.”
Round six of the Australian Formula Ford Championship will be held at Phillip Island, on September 28-30.
