NAIDOC Week 2018 will be from July 8-15 and there will be plenty happening in the Highlands.
This year’s theme Because of Her, We Can! recognises the important role women play, and continue to play within communities on a local, state and national level.
On Monday, July 9 the NAIDOC official flag raising ceremony will be held at council, followed by the Wingecarribee Aboriginal Networks NAIDOC mini expo.
From 10am-11am, the flag raising ceremony will include a welcome to country, smoking ceremony, poetry in First Languages and the launch of the Because of Her, We Can! art exhibition.
The mini expo will run from 11am until 1pm in the Moss Vale CWA and Girl Guides Halls.
There will be plenty of information on services available for people in the Southern Highlands as well as plenty of entertainment.
There will be traditional games and artefacts, bush medicine and tucker plants, a rock climbing wall, Magic Jester show and a barbecue lunch.
On Tuesday, July 10 Discover Rangers at Fitzroy Falls will hold two Finding Food in the Forest sessions.
This will take place at Fitzroy Falls Information centre and sessions will be from 10.30am until 12pm and from 1.30pm until 3pm.

On Thursday, July 12 council and Creative Space Arts will host an Aboriginal art workshop with artist Nikeeta Haverfield of TeekArt Contemporary Aboriginal Art.
It will be held at Creative Space Southern Highlands at Kazcare and the workshop will be for people 18 years and older from 10am-3pm.

The NAIDOC family fun day will again be held at the Wingecarribee Aboriginal Community and Cultural Centre on Saturday, July 14.
Hosted by Yamanda Aboriginal Association, the day will run from 10am-2pm and will include a jumping castle, morning tea and lunch, rock climbing and arts and crafts.
There will be local services and organisations there on the day with information tables.
