Organised by Moss Vale High School teacher, Jeremy Donaldson, students from Moss Vale High, Bowral High, Chevalier College, Frensham College, and the Southern Highlands Christian School, came together today for their first time to prepare their vocals and instruments for the concert.
There will be a concert band, a stage band, a choir, and a string orchestra.
Mr Donaldson said he is looking forward to the concert as an event like this hasn’t happened in the Highlands for 15 years.
“It is the first time that all the high schools in the Southern Highlands have joined forces to create such a rich experience for their music students – celebrating their common passion for music making, creating connections between students from different schools, and showcasing the array of talent that exists within our community,” he said.
The students will play a range of pieces from musicals including The Great Showman and The Blues Brothers.
Moss Vale High School CAPA teacher, Linda Johnston, said it is great to see teachers and students across the Highlands come together and create new friendships.
“It doesn’t matter who you are or what school you go to, music brings everyone together,” she said.
The festival is open to the public and will commence at 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 21 at Frensham College’s Clubbe Hall, Range Road, Mittagong.
Entry will be a gold coin donation and there will be no reserved seating.
