Colo Vale community association president Elyse White and vice president John Stead received an official Kangaroo March re-enactment plaque from organiser Angela Williamson during a presentation recently.

Community members and seven Colo Vale Public School students were in attendance at the presentation.

This featured a talk about the history of the march, the performance of a song about the experience of women in World War I and the Australian national anthem Advance Australia Fair.

Angela Williamson said she offered her thanks to the community for its involvement in the march, despite the hot weather.

“It’s a real thrill to recognise the commitment of communities,” she said.

“The effort was sensational. On a 35 degree day, they turned it on.”

Ms Williamson said she was pleased with the level of interest and involvement from school-aged children, who waved flags during the Kangaroo March re-enactment.

“The whole school [Colo Vale Public School] came to the march,” she said.

“They were entranced, it was a lovely sight.”
