The band, made up of Ben Malone, Gabe Kolovos, Dom Bouletare and Michael Vining, have been together for just over a year now and have a very unique sound.
“It’s a mix of a lot of things,” drummer Michael said.
“We can play anything from hard rock to pop rock, we cover a lot of decades.”
The band has recently released its first original on Triple J Unearthed, and more music is in the works.
“We are working on recording some more music which is exciting,” Michael said.
The band’s name has quite the story behind it, and it’s certainly a peculiar one.
“Well my sister is a vegetarian and we made Ben try a piece of tofu and it was really bad,” Michael said.
“So then we thought of something else that was really bad and that was the mafia, so Tofu Mafia it was.”
The band has had a number of live gigs recently, performing at Bowral Pool youth events and the highly successful Eve on The Green event at Oxley College.
Michael said the band had developed a very “unique” sound.
“We all really love the Foo Fighters but separate from that we all like really different things,” Michael said. “We sort have created our own sort of genre.”
Tofu Mafia will perform at the Show on Friday night from 7pm-9pm.
They’ll be preforming originals and covers.
