The new service will ferry passengers to Moss Vale in the morning, so they can catch a train there to get to Sydney Central by 8.20am.
The service will also swing back to Goulburn and provide a new day return link between Goulburn and Canberra.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Transport Andrew Constance announced the new trial in Goulburn on March 1.
Premier Berejiklian said the trials, which are planned to start around the middle of 2018, are designed to complement existing train services and provide more convenient public transport connections for people in Goulburn and surrounding communities.
“These new services are part of our commitment to regional customers to provide improved links to Sydney and better cross regional travel options,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“Under this proposal, customers travelling between Goulburn and areas like Bundanoon and Marulan will benefit from a new coach connection to trains each morning, allowing them to get to Sydney by 8.10am, half an hour earlier than existing services.”
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said community consultation on the trials will start immediately and he encouraged the community to give feedback on how to get the most out of the new service.
“There will be an online survey and community info sessions where people can find out how they can benefit from these services and how we can make even more improvements,” Mr Constance said.
“We are also going to be gauging community interest in possible new services from Goulburn to major events like the Royal Easter Show, or a weekend getaway coach to locations like the South Coast, Wollongong or Canberra.”
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward said the new connections would fill a vital gap in the public transport services in Goulburn.
“It is about better connecting our community with reliable links to centres of Canberra and Sydney,” Ms Goward said.
“For customers in the Goulburn area who want to travel to Canberra and Queanbeyan, the proposed coach service will allow them to travel to the national capital in the morning, spend at least five hours there and return in the afternoon, with stops including the Canberra CBD, local hospitals and at Canberra Station.
“Anyone looking to enjoy a longer day in Canberra will still be able to access the existing NSW TrainLink train and coach services, which depart for Goulburn in the late afternoon,” Ms Goward said.
The community survey will be available online from at www.transportnsw.info/NSW-TrainLink-Trials, or in hard copy at Goulburn and Canberra Stations.
