Residents of Canyonleigh, Paddy’s River and surrounding areas have been invited to attend a Community Bush Fire Forum at the Canyonleigh RFS Fire Shed this Saturday, February 24.
The areas of the western Highlands were impacted by bush fire in October last year and threatened again by the Bannaby bush fire last month.
Presenters at the Forum will discuss the impacts that the fires had on residents near the Paddy’s River fire and the implications of the Bannaby fire should it have reached the Wingecarribee Shire.
At one stage, the RFS had issued warnings that the Bannaby fire could endanger the Canyonleigh area.
Speakers will include officers from the Canyonleigh and Middle Arm RFS brigades on the fire impacts, Marisa Rockett from Landmark Insurance will discuss financial risk and insurance considerations, community preparedness and a Q and A session, convened by RFS Inspector David Stimson.
The 60 minute forum will commence at 5pm at the Canyonleigh RFS Fire Shed, 2030 Canyonleigh Road.
Guests are then invited to discuss any concerns they may have with RFS volunteers and register for the Brigade’s community fire courses later in the year.
