Award-winning artist Jan Pooley-Hibberd will launch her latest collection, Blue Moon and Highland Views, on February 23 at Bowral Art Gallery.

Jan has lived in the Highlands for 15 years, working from her personal art studio at Ashby Rise in Moss Vale.
Located on a 744-metre hill overlooking the clouds, rolling hills, vineyards, dams and many shades of green, this collection has been inspired by the breath-taking scenes the Southern Highlands has to offer.
“I look out at the most fabulous, fabulous views. The motivation for my artwork is the changing sky, the movement and colour of the mist rolling through with the gentle rain, reflecting the changing skies and the incredible light of the moon as contrasting views of the Southern Highlands,” she said.
Through her artwork, Jan has portrayed the feeling of depth of these scenic visions.
Jan’s artworks will bring to life the walls of any home or office. Every painting has used five shades of blue.
This collection will showcase the art that has been on her walls and is yet to be admired by the public.
The watercolour collection will include limited edition artworks and monoprints.
“I can’t wait to get them out there,” she said.
Her career as an artist has spanned more than 40 years. Trained at the National Art School, Jan has a depth of knowledge and passion which she will share in this exhibition and with her students at her studio.
She has previously mentored emerging artists at Hornsby Girls High School and Homebush Boys High School.
Her philosophy around sharing her art has also been evident in the passion and joy she has for making art accessible to to all.
That accessibility can be through affordable art classes, or ensuring her pieces are priced affordably to ensure all individuals, families and businesses can take that joy and happiness away with them.
The official launch will be held on Friday, February 23 at 6pm at the Bowral Art Gallery on Short Street, Bowral.
It will be opened by artist and close friend of Jan, Sonja Millis. Louise Bell will play the harp from 6pm while champagne, food will be served.
Jan said she would love visitors to introduce themselves to her at the gallery and “have a little gem of mine on their wall.”
“I would also like them to look for texture in the paintings. The papers I’ve been using bring out the best qualities of my work.”
Jan would appreciate it if guests checked out her favourite piece, titled ‘Blue Moon.’
The collection of 88 artworks will be displayed until Tuesday, February 27.
