The sensory room is where students can explore their senses of sight, touch and sound through calming lights, noise-cancelling headphones and a large collection of toys, cushions and a rocking chair. 

This is where they can sit down, play with toys, bounce around on a gym ball and lay on the mat with their headphones.

Students are encouraged to use the sensory room when they feel stressed out or the noise of the regular classroom becomes too much.

The walls have a sound-proof padding to keep outside noise levels to a minimum.

Assistant principal of special education, Annemarie Bowditch, said the well-being of her students with special needs had improved since the introduction of the sensory room and it had been well used and loved.

A donation made by Bunnings Mittagong allowed the need for a sensory room to be addressed.
