In the match of the day, Graham Hunt and Peter Morales defeated Glen Giese and Robin Staples 23-22 at Bowral Bowling Club on Wednesday, February 13. Hunt and Morales were out to prove a point to the selectors and jumped out to a 14-4 lead after 10 ends, only for Giese and Staples to turn on a great display of bowls and after a good run had got back on equal terms 17-17 after 18 ends. But with two ends to play, the game took a dramatic twist. On the 20th end, Giese and Staples scored five shots and took a three shot lead with one end to play. On the last end, Hunt and Morales had a new spark of life and picked up four shots to take out the game by one shot.

Team Fahey was fired up early and had a 9-4 lead after seven ends. However team Coltman scored five shots on the next end to draw level. With team Coltman making the right choice of shots they went to a 17-12 lead after 13 ends. From then on it was a very hard fought game with team Fahey getting on equal terms 21-21 after 21 ends. Before team Coltman scored two shots to take out the match after a extra end was played.
