But much hard work is needed in the next two weeks before the season starts.
In the match of the day at Bowral Bowling Club on February 10, skipper Dugald Braithwaite guided his team from a big come-from-behind win.
Ashley Lewis, Anthony Coismac, Josh Woodcock and Dugald Braithwaite defeated Greg Taylor, Dennis Beatty, Stephen Della and Stuart Rigg 18-17.
Team Rigg got away to a big start and after eleven ends had a 15-4 lead.
And after 15 ends had extended this to a 15-7 score line.
The reality was that team Braithwaite was playing good bowls but team Rigg was playing better.
With six ends to play team Braithwaite was in a tricky situation and decided to change their style of play.
They opted for a more aggressive approach.
And what a start of a come back.
Under good guidance from Braithwaite they came home in flying colours winning the last six ends and picking up eleven shots to take out an absorbing game by one shot in a match that proved a worthy pennant trial.
