Kangaloon resident Brian Bailey initially joined for the purpose of research.
Bailey will be a part of the 2018 Commonwealth Games lawn bowls coverage team.

He will fulfill the role of venue technical manager.
Bailey has had a long history in televising sport, which has included four World Football Cups and three Olympics.
He has also worked at several television stations around the world.
Bailey said while joining was initially about learning more about lawn bowls, he fell in love with the sport.
“Joining Bowral Bowling Club was triggered by being offered work on the Commonwealth Games,” he said.
“As the venue technical manager, I didn’t have to know the sport but I wanted to.
“I’m really enjoying Bowral Bowling Club. It’s great meeting new people.”
Bailey said, like many sports, Bowral Bowling Club gives men the opportunity for a regular social connection.
“I think it’s important for guys to socialise,” he said.
“Most do that through their work, but when work stops that can stop.”
Bailey will travel to the Gold Coast for the Commonwealth Games in April.
“I’m looking forward to catching up with old faces at the Games.”
Social bowls is played on Wednesday and Saturday afternoon at Bowral Bowling Club.
On Wednesday the dress is mufti, while on Saturday the dress is pennant uniform or whites. On both days, play commences at 1pm, and players must enter the social competition before 12pm. Green fees are $12.
