The teams participated in the annual Pink Stumps Day at Stephens Park in Bowral on Saturday, February 3.
Mittagong and Bundanoon cricketers raised between $3500 and $4000 for the foundation.
This included between $2500 and $3000 from Bundanoon’s club sponsors.
The day also raised awareness of the McGrath Foundation’s work throughout the two clubs and the community.
Mittagong third grade captain Rob Collins said he was pleased with the efforts of both clubs.
“I was overwhelmed by the amount we received from players and sponsors,” Collins said.
While the day was an opportunity for the teams to socialise, there was also plenty of rivalry.
There was a close game on the field, which eventually went to Mittagong.
Bundanoon won the toss and elected to bat first. Mittagong was all out for 116 runs.
“We were able to get them out early, which helped us,” Collins said.
“We bowled and fielded well [during the game].
“It was a gritty game and it went down to the wire – it was very close.”
Michael Tiyce was the top player for Mittagong, and scored 40 runs and took two wickets.
Funds were also raised through player donations as well as barbecue lunch at the Stephens Park on Saturday.
The McGrath Foundation raises money to place breast care nurses in communities across Australia, and increases breast awareness in young Australian women.
