Bregonje won the Ladies Day Cup and the Summer Cup at Lithgow Go Kart track in January.
She competed against male and female senior drivers from across Australia to take out the top spots.
Bregonje, who worked hard to win the competitions, has been fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by the sport.
The racer has been supported by her brother and her father, who have both been involved in motor racing for about seven years and have had their own successes in the sport.
In particular, Bregonje’s brother has provided support to his sister in the form of expertise as a fellow driver, a trainer and a mechanic.
Bregonje said while she did not expect to come first in the Ladies Day Cup and the Summer Cup, it was a pleasant surprise.
“It was my first major win, I wasn’t expecting it,” she said.
“My dad and brother were pretty impressed.
“My dad was so proud and he gave me a big hug at the end of the race.”
While racing is competitive, Bregonje said the thrill of the sport kept her going.

“I get an adrenaline rush from racing, I really enjoy it,” she said.
“It’s a hobby for now. I’m trying to get better and go up a grade.”
Bregonje is currently preparing for the Brian Farley Memorial Race in March, which is the biggest race meet in NSW. The memorial race attracts the best drivers from across the country.
This includes national racing champion Brendan Nelson.
The winner of the race will have their name engraved on the memorial trophy and will receive $2000 in prize money. “My brother is my mechanic. We’ll have to get the kart fully prepared [for the race],” Bregonje said.
When Bregonje is not racing on the track, she is working as a receptionist at Laurie Stewart Automotive.
She took up the role after graduating from Chevalier College last year.
