She left in mid-January for a year away, staying with host families and looked after by the Rotary Club of Basel St Jakob.
Julie’s home is in Bowral and she is in year 10 at Bowral High, where she is particularly keen on art and dance.
She will be in the company of three sisters at her first host family, all of whom have been on exchange.
One of the things that she is looking forward to is seeing snow which she has never yet experienced.
After the hot weather here she may not be so keen on the associated cold!
Julie is a very capable young woman and we wish her every success in Switzerland.
Meanwhile our current incoming exchange student, Veerle Schute, from Holland, has been taking advantage of the long summer holiday to help the Rotary Club of Yass on a project in Bali.
They have been giving out hygiene supplies and teaching about hygiene as well as building a house for a homeless local family.
They also bought supplies for them to build a chicken coop and helped construct a piggery.
A remarkable experience, no doubt.
We are excited to be presenting the film “Finding Your Feet” on February 22 at the Empire Cinema.
This screening is intended to raise funds for our continuing work in the community.
It’s a hilarious movie with a stellar cast including Celia Imrie, David Hayman and Joanna Lumley.
Tickets at the cinema are $25 which includes a glass of wine, some eats and a ‘special gift’.

She will be in the company of three sisters at her first host family... That’ll be a big change for an only child!
