Wollondilly MP Jai Rowell has urged Highlanders to apply.
“These grants deliver money to the local grassroots environmental projects where it can make the biggest difference. One grant can change the way an entire community interacts with a site” Jai said.
“Grants range from between $5,000 to $100,000 and be it a community group, not-for-profit or government entity from across the region, I encourage them to apply. We are blessed with a lot of natural beauty in our community, we should work to preserve it”
The grant program aims to protect and restore ecosystems and care for the habitats of rare and endangered plants and animals.
The program has been running for over 20 years and is one of the longest running in Australia. It has helped landholders, local councils, government agencies and community groups to restore habitats for native and engendered species, improve water quality and rehabilitate wetland areas.
