Mr Fountain was 72 years old. His colleagues at Ray White Mittagong said he suffered a stroke on Saturday, and quietly slipped away, surrounded by his family.
“You will be greatly missed Tony, such a character with always a story to tell, constantly making us laugh. You certainly lived life to the fullest,” they wrote online.
Mr Fountain was prominent in auction circles across the country, having represented Ray White for 30 years.
He is said to have played a key role in developing Ray White’s auction presence in NSW in 1988.
He served a number of terms as National President of the Australian Democrats in the early 1990s and appear as a keynote speaker at Conferences across the world.
