On December 22, NSW Attorney General Mark Speakman announced the appointment of the new roles.
Mr Speakman announced that Susan Dixon will become a Senior Commissioner while Peter Walsh will become a full-time Commissioner.
Susan Morris, Professor Edward Blakely and John Douglas have all been appointed as Acting Commissioners.
Mr Speakman said the Commissioners play a “vital role” in determining merit review appeals, either “via adjudication or conciliation.”
Ms Dixon has been a full-time Commissioner for the past eight years.
As a former solicitor, she has previously served as a Senior Member of the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal and the Registrar of the LEC.
Mrs Morris served as a full time LEC Comissioner from 2010 to 2017 and now returns in an acting capacity.
Dr Walsh is a planner who owns a multi-award winning consulting practice that provides services to government agencies, education institutions and the private sector on urban and regional planning issues and public policy.
Mr Douglas has been an arborist for 33 years and a head teacher at TAFE NSW at Ryde since 2009 and has worked closely with SafeWork NSW.
Professor Blakely has extensive urban planning and policy background and has taught in a range of high profile education institutions including Sydney University, New York School University and the University of California at Berkley.
