What to do on New Year’s Eve in the Southern Highlands

If you’re sticking around in the Highlands for New Year’s Eve, but not staying indoors, there are plenty of things happening to keep you entertained. 

Here’s our guide to what’s on in the Highlands on the evening of December 31, whether you want to dance, dine, or do something in between. 

There will be music, cocktails and champagne slushies at the Briars Historic Inn.

They will host dinner from 6pm and a deck party from 3pm, with music from Stephanie Jansen until 7:30pm and from Sydney DJ Raff from 8pm until late.

Gibraltar Hotel in Bowral will be hosting an event themed, ‘Everything that glitters in gold’, featuring a five course degustation dinner in the ball room from 6pm and a party in Harvey’s bar from 9pm.

There will be live music from Louise Bruce at the party, and live coverage of the Sydney fireworks playing on a screen in the bar. For more details and bookings, call 48628635.

If you’re after a fancy dinner, Bowral’s Bistro Officina is offering a seven course set menu.

It will include items such as bruschetta, oysters, aged tuna, aged duck, lime sorbet and tiramasu. 

They will also conclude the evening in the Italian tradition with the cutting of the cotechino at midnight to celebrate the new year.

The usual a la carte menu will be on offer at Peppers Craigieburn from 6pm to 9pm, with matching wines available too. 

Take A Hit duo will be performing in the main lounge at the Mittagong RSL from 8pm until 1am on the evening

The club’s restaurant will be open as normal. For details and bookings, call 48726700. 

Peppers Manor House will also be open as usual, serving dinner from 6pm in the restaurant. 

For those in Robertson, the Robertson Inn will be open until late, serving dinner until 8pm. 

And if you are keen to boogie, the Sutton Forest Inn will be hosting entertainment from 6pm.

Acts will include a live band called The Rusted Track that will play until late.

The Imperial Hotel Bowral will also be open for New Year’s Eve, serving woodfired pizzas from the pizzeria and food from the bistro from 6pm until 9pm.
