The Vipers hosted a top-of-the table clash against the Mets Crawdads at a hot, dry Jurd Park, seeking to put the first real dent in the younger side's 2017-18 campaign. Things started well for the Stars with a tight first innings, the Mets being held to nothing off Andrew Lewis' pitching despite having several runners in position to score. The local side then went one up off a hit from Phil Glassington, the game then starting to look like the contest it had promised to be. Unfortunately the heat of the day appeared to overtake the Vipers, allowing the Mets to bat away, consecutive five run innings taking the win. A nod to Robbie Gower who worked hard at short stop all game.
The Vipers and Bombers will now enjoy the traditional Christmas-New Year-Summer Holiday break, renewing their seasons when Round 14 is played on February 2-3.
