But not everyone will be in the festive spirit.
While many people will be focussed on a very merry time with loved ones, Christmas can be a sad and lonely occasion for others.
Some people will be alone this Christmas, others will be grieving the loss of a loved one and there will be many more who can’t afford a Christmas feast or gifts for their loved ones.
Those who are looking forward to a merry Christmas should mindful of the situation of those less fortunate, alone and sad. A simple kind gesture – visiting a lonely neighbour, buying a gift or a Christmas hamper for someone you know is struggling, offering a listening ear to someone who is grieving – all this could make the world of difference. The gift of kindness could be the greatest gift you give this year.
