Gravity defying, mesmerising, enchanting, extraordinary, and awe-inspiring were just a few words aerial silks teacher Cassie Tate used to describe the Moss Vale Aerial Silks final performance of the year.
Staged in the gymnastics building at the Moss Vale Showgrounds on Sunday, December 10, the performance had an “African theme”.
Aerialists aged between 10 and 40 took to the air dressed as giraffes, zebras, monkeys, leopards, lions and snakes.
Suspended 20 feet in the air on long, colourful silks suspended from the ceiling, 20 aerial performers exhibited their strength and flexibility to an audience of more than 100.
Ms Tate, who also performed in the show, said the “spectators were in awe” of the performances on the aerial silks, the aerial hoop and the acrobatics.
“The show kicked off with an opening display of acrobatics, tumbling and aerial hoop, and then proceeded into various displays of courage, strength, flexibility and athleticism,” she said.
“The two hour aerial show was a fantastic display of all the hard work and dedication the aerialists have put into their training, and they only train one hour per week.”
She said this was only the second year that the adult’s aerial class had participated in the showcase.
“I commend them for their bravery and their exceptional performance on the day,” Ms Tate said.
“They all showed their remarkable endurance and professionalism during the show. It was a great achievement.”
The Moss Vale aerialists will return to the stage in 2018.
