There has also be some not-so-pleasant experiences with the vandalism of the CWA rooms in Ellizabeth Street and the consequent need for repairs. Through the good and bad, the enthusuastic members of the Moss Vale CWA branch are happy with all they have achieved in 2017. And as far as they are concerned the support of the community in so many projects has been invaluable.
CWA Moss Vale branch president Jennifer Bowe said the branch overcame the vandalism incident with the help of the community. “We have nearly finished completing costly, major repairs to our rooms,” she said. “The next major task is the removal of the large conifers and related landscaping with a garden friendly to birds, bees and insects.”
Mrs Bowe said branch members enjoyed supporting the local schools, Disability Services Australia, Moss Vale Community Gardens, Girl Guides and other passions too numerous to mention. She said the branch also “really appreciates the enthusiasm shown by Moss Vale people to any of the branch activities – raffles, street stalls and garage sales.”
“We are also generously supported by local businesses when we are looking for prizes,” she said. “Our most recent community event was serving Devonshire teas at the Moss Vale Railway Sesquicentenary celebrations in early December working with the very helpful staff at the station.”
Mrs Bowe said that while the branch members worked hard they had some fun doing it.
“Moss Vale CWA has been working in the Moss Vale community for more than 90 years,” she said. “Our branch pops up at community events, can be seen catering for all sizes of functions ranging from historical motorcycle clubs, through to children’s parties. Our rooms continue to be well used by the community, with many and varied hall hires.”
Mrs Bowe said the Moss Vale CWA members would like to thank the people in the community for their ongoing support and enthusiasm for the branch. “And thanks to all of our members, both long-standing and new. We wish everyone a safe and happy festive season and please travel safely.”
