Mittagong had a win over Robertson Burrawang at Bradman Oval on Saturday.
Meanwhile Mittagong’s third grade side also had a win against Bowral at Welby Oval.
First grade captain Joel Gorring said the club’s hard work on the day was a tribute to the memory of their friend Paul Jones.
Jones died of a heart attack while playing for Mittagong last week, which left the club in shock.
“The biggest thing for us is first and third grade won on the weekend. It was in memory of PJ,” he said.
“The fact that everyone stood up, played their roles and were very much team players was a big thing.”
Gorring said while it was a tough game against Robertson Burrawang, Mittagong put in a lot of effort and came out on top.

“It was a good win considering they’re the defending premiers,” he said. “We’ve shown our credentials and we’ve shown how good we can be.
Gorring said there were several stand-out players during the game.
Marco Basaglia got 5 for 25, while Lachlan Holmes also played well and got four wickets on the field.
Meanwhile Reece Woods got 40 not out during the first grade game.
Stephen Allport, who was a good friend of Jones, supported his team with a strong performance during the game.
“It was an important day to stick together,” Gorring said. “[Stephen] was close with PJ and it was important to pay tribute to his friend.”
After the game, Mittagong and Robertson Burrawang had a post-game gathering to remember Jones. “It was good to see Robertson get behind us, and respect our club and members,” he said.
