Man charged for school break in

A man has been charged following an alleged break in at a Mittagong school which resulted in more than $2000 worth of damage.

On October 28, police began an investigation into the break in. Police believe up to seven people entered the school, forced entry to a room and damaged computer equipment.

About 2.40pm on November 30, police arrested a 23-year-old man at a house on Meranie Street, Welby.

He was taken to Bowral Police Station and later charged with breaking and entering.

The man was given conditional bail and will appear at Moss Vale Local Court on January 9, 2018. Enquiries continue and anyone with information is urged to contact Bowral Police on 4862 9299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

P-Plater charged with fraud and traffic offences

A P-plater will front court next month on fraud and dangerous driving charges.

About 12.30am on Monday, December 4 police were notified of an alleged fraud at a Service Station in Goulburn where a man purchased about $90 worth of petrol and left without paying. 

Over the next 30 minutes police received reports that the same vehicle, a blue coloured Hyundai sedan, was being allegedly driven in a dangerous manner and high speed north on the Hume Highway. 

About 1am police responded to a collision in the northbound lanes of the Hume Highway at Pheasants Nest where the Hyundai allegedly collided with the rear of another vehicle. No persons were injured from the collision however both cars required towing from the scene. 

Police spoke with the alleged driver of the Hyundai, a 20-year-old man from the ACT, who was the holder of a provisional driver’s licence. The man was subjected to a roadside breath test which proved positive. He was arrested and taken to Bowral Police Station. A breath analysis produced an alleged reading of 0.151. 

His licence was immediately suspended and he was issued a court attendance notice for fraud, drive in dangerous manner and high range drink driving. He is due to appear at Moss Vale Local Court on January 9, 2018.

High range drink driving charge

A woman was charged with high range drink driving after a collision with a tree.

About 6pm on December 3, police responded to a collision on Old South Road Mittagong.

It is alleged a blue coloured Mitsubishi Lancer collided with a tree. No one was injured and police spoke to a 39-year-old woman from Narellan believed to be the driver of the car.

The woman was subjected to a roadside breath test which proved positive.

She was arrested and taken to Bowral Police Station. A breath analysis produced an alleged reading of 0.196.

The woman’s driver’s licence was suspended and she was issued a Court Attendance Notice for High Range Drink Driving.

She will appear in Moss Vale Local Court on January 9. 

Girls approached in Mittagong

Public assistance is sought to identify a man responsible for an indecent act in front of three girls at Mittagong  December 1.

Police from The Hume Local Area Command have been told the girls, one aged 12 and two aged 15, were walking west along the Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, at about 5.10pm when they heard a man yelling at them.

The man beckoned the girls closer then committed an indecent act in front of them.

When one of the girls attempted to take his photo the man ran from the scene up Albert Lane.

It’s believed the same man was seen a few seconds later driving a small silver-coloured four-door sedan.

Police were alerted and searched the area without success.

A description of a man police believe can assist with their inquiries has been released.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 50 to 60, with a tanned complexion and a large/obese build. At the time he was wearing a yellow shirt, black board shorts, a black beanie and thongs.

Investigators are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or has information about the man, to contact Bowral Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
