A new app developed by South Western Sydney PHN and One Door Mental Health will provide easier access to information as well as a directory of programs and services.
The app, Recovery Point, provides information specfic to South Western Sydney and has been developed to assist people who are experiencing mental health concerns and need support, as well as their friends, family and carers.
Information includes local mental health programs and services, details of common mental illnesses, different types of mental health professionals and how to access them, emergency and crisis supports, helplines, telephone and online counselling support, online self-help tools and apps, local consumer networks and additional information specfic to young people.
The app includes interactive map functionality and the ability to save listings.
South Western Sydney PHN CEO Keith McDonald said the app provided a one-stop shop for mental health information and support, that could be accessed anywhere at any time.
“A key feature of the app is a comprehensive directory of local programs and services available across South Western Sydney,” he said.
“The app provides access for those seeking mental health assistance and advice in their own time, when they need it most.”
Anyone concerned about their mental health should still talk to their GP to seek advice, referral and treatment, and rule out any physical health problems that might be contributing to their concerns.
The app can now be downloaded for free through Google Play and the Apple App Store.
