The works will involve the renewing of the old water main and the construction of a new 150mm water main by specialist contractor Carve Earthworks.
Construction will be carried out over a distance of 400 metres between the intersections of Parkes Road with Lackey Road and Argyle Street.
Hours of construction will be 7.00am to 6.00pm Mondays to Saturdays.
During these construction hours the immediate work area will be temporarily closed to through traffic.
Access will, however, be made available to immediate properties located on Lackey Road.
Road users and pedestrians are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions including detours, exercise care when travelling through the construction zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.
Signage will also be erected and traffic controllers will be stationed on site to manage traffic during work hours.
Where possible, motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
Council thanked motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologised for any temporary delays or inconvenience.
The project is scheduled to be completed by early February 2018. All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.
