On Friday and Saturday, December 15 and 16, the Mittagong Anglican Church will recreate the first century Bethlehem to remind the community of the meaning of the first Christmas.
The crafts of leatherworkers, carpenters, potters, weavers, and coppersmiths will be re-enacted by church members to create a sense of what life was like when Jesus Christ was born.
Visitors can journey through Bethlehem’s recreated streets, meeting villagers, Roman legionaries, wise men, shepherds who watch over their animals, and Mary, Joseph and Jesus (played by a real baby).
This is a free event that includes refreshments.
It will run from 4 to 7pm and the church suggests leaving an hour to walk through the set up.
