This year will be no different, as the experienced trainer takes to the track with several family members, including her husband, brother and mother.
Murray-Leslie will have two horses in this year’s picnic races.
This will include Ain’t She A Dane in the open handicap race, and Mop The Floor in the class B handicap race.
Last season the Murray-Leslie stable trained four winners.
So far this season the trainer has produced the winners of five races.
The latest winner was picnic races entrant Ain't She A Dane at Nowra on November 7.
Off the back of a recent win, Murray-Leslie said she was confident of her horses’ chances in their respective races.
“Ain’t She A Dane has drawn well in a field of five very competitive horses,” she said.
“They’ll be very hard-fought races.”
Apart from the thrill of competition, Murray-Leslie said the community feel of the Bong Bong Picnic Races was what kept her coming back year after year.
She has been a proud supporter of the event, and the efforts of the voluntary board members that organise the picnic races.
“It’s a local event. That’s the reason we do come,” Murray-Leslie said.
The picnic races gives the trainer the opportunity to do what she is passionate about without leaving the Southern Highlands.
“You don’t do it if you don’t love the animals,” she said.
“You have to love the competitive nature of it. It’s tactical.
Ain’t She A Dane will race at 3.35pm at Bong Bong Racecourse.
The horse will be jockeyed by Billy Owen.
Mop the Floor will take to the track later in the day at 5pm.
Mop the Floor’s jockey will be Maddison Wright.
