Staff, rangers, FOWAS, volunteers and guests celebrated the day with laughter, cake and lots of dog love.
FOWAS president Deborah Barnes thanked everyone who had been involved with the animal shelter of the past 16 years.
“We are so fortunate to have fantastic shelter staff, dog trainer, volunteer walkers/cat cuddlers, rangers and thee Wingecarribee Shire Council support,” she said.
“Southern Highlands retailers and the community over the years has been instrumental to the animal shelter and without all their assistance FOWAS and the shelter would not be able to continue their great work.
“We look forward to continuing to assist the shelter to enhance of the lives of the cats and dogs who come into our are care looking for their furever homes.”
FOWAS has teamed up with Gubbins Home Timber and Hardware to start the beautification of the shelter grounds.
The annual FOWAS Christmas raffle will again be held in 2017.
Funds raised will go towards a new cat quarantine and cattery building at the shelter.
FOWAS will be selling tickets the Bowral Markets on the November 25 and December 9 and at the Twilight Markets on the December 21.
Tickets will also be available at Woolworths in Bowral on Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16.
People can also buy tickets from Claytons Pharmacy Bowral, Gubbins Hardware, Wingecarribee Animal Shelter, Bowral Road Bed and Breakfast Mittagong.
Tickets are $5 each and winners will announced on December 21 at 6pm at the Twilight Markets.
