At Wingecarribee NSW State Emergency Service Unit we are privileged to make a difference almost every week of every year.
Whether it’s meeting with you at this year’s Triple Zero Cricket Challenge, tarping rooftops during wild and stormy weather or performing road crash rescue at four in the morning.
We’re out there, week after week, because we want to make a difference in your life.
As we come into fire season we’d like to remind you to stay safe and hydrated.
A recent fire at Paddys River closed the Hume Motorway in both directions causing lengthy delays.
Given our proximity to the motorway we suggest you carry plenty of water with you if you’re leaving the Highlands so if you get stuck in a lengthy traffic delay, you’ll be hydrated and safe.
We’ve recently had four of our members endorsed as cadet trainers.
This means they are qualified to train young people in what we do and how to do it.
We’re excited to be able to get young people engaged in our service and perhaps entice some future members along the way.
Stay tuned, our cadet program will be coming to a school in the Wingecarribee in 2018.
Our team is powered by a group of dedicated volunteers behind the scenes who support those in the field.
You won’t see them, but for every person you see wearing orange, there is another in our operations room providing planning, operations and logistics support needed to keep our vehicles on the road, headquarters functioning and our field teams equipped to help you.
These members are the unsung heroes of our family and we couldn’t function without them.
SES is truly a family.
One of the most magic moments I’ve witnessed (not just at SES but ever) was our member Erin proposing to her partner Irene during a training session in front of all our members this month.
Erin chose to propose at SES as “they are our extended friends and family”.
Congratulations Erin and Irene, we’re looking forward to your wedding and watching you grow old together.
If you would like to join our family go to NSW SES website and follow the links to volunteer with us.
