Australia’s first ever pie-themed month was considered a huge success by organisers.
And the event has now gained even more recognition.
Destination Southern Highlands’ Pie Time campaign won the Destination Marketing category at the Canberra Region Tourism Awards on November 18.
National Capital Attractions Association president Dr Naomi Dale said the the award recognised the unique and integrated destination campaign for this year’s inaugural Pie Time festivities.
“This shows how well our surrounding regions are working together to promote the broader Canberra region, breaking down borders, and engaging with our wider tourist markets,” she said.
Each of the category winners, including Destination Southern Highlands’ Pie Time, will compete at a national level at the Australian Tourism Awards in Perth next year.
After Highlands’ pies took home a plethora of medals at the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition, Destination Southern Highlands manager Steve Rosa said the inaugural Pie Time events gained more recognition than expected, and the plan is to expand the vent into a pathway for the statewide competition.
