The final scoreline belies the effort the SSBC Bombers went to in a great tussle against the higher placed Campbelltown Caspers Crusaders.
Once again the team got off to a flying start, putting in six runs for the Caspers to chase.
The opponents duly responded, initially coming up one short before gradually gaining the upper hand on the Bombers pitching staff of Guy Farrugia, Matt Hibbert and Ben O'Rourke.
Highlights of the game came from Richard Tomlin in a rare appearance at Left Outfield, taking a catch which then turned into a beautiful double-play at 2nd with Kurt Farrugia.
Tony Maher had yet another strong game with the bat, while Guy Farrugia picked up the team's 'catch of the year' to date off a classic Jason Sparks ‘bomb’ which almost touched the boundary fence.
Coach Paul Jackson remains very happy with the team's performance and is expecting a return to success once more of the higher placed teams are dealt with.
DIV 2 VIPERS: 6-4 W
After several weeks off, the Vipers finally took to the diamond and restarted their winning ways.
It wasn't an easy task, however, as the Campbelltown Caspers Phoenix were up for the challenge.
An early batting contest became a tussle of the pitchers in the second half of a game taken to six innings, a rarity in MBL Division 2.
In the end the Vipers prevailed, with the highlight a spectacular self-double play by Aiden Martin at 3rd.
The Vipers also this week welcomed Rob Gower who played a great first up game.
