Mother Nature seems to have no boundaries when it comes to beautiful sights. And this cicada with its fluorescent green and blue wings is no exception.
Leon Gross recently snapped this picture at Braemar as the cicada shed its shell.
The colourful sight of this creature will be enjoyed for only a short time as adult cicadas live for only a few weeks. Cicadas are the loudest insect in the world and there are more than 200 species in Australia. The sound of a cicada is a sure sign of summer, but only male cicadas sing. They do this in an attempt to find a mate.
