The yearly U Turn the Wheel program was held at the Mittagong RSL on Tuesday, October 17.
High school students from Year 11 at Chevalier College listened to talks and took part in activities that showed them the importance of safe driving.
Presenters included police, driving instructors, people who had lost family members in car accidents and paramedics.
The event was organised by the Moss Vale Rotary club and was sponsored by a range of government and community organisations.
George Brown from the Moss Vale Rotary described it as a “wonderful program for young adults”.
Mr Brown said it was important to talk to teenagers learning to drive about the potentially disastrous consequences of thoughtless driving.
“You can go to a driving school to learn the technicality [of driving]. But here they are taught the emotional consequences of doing something careless,” he said.
“There’s more to [driving] than the technical aspects. You have a responsibility.”
