All southbound lanes of the Hume Motorway are now open at Yerrinbool after an earlier truck fire. One southbound lane of the motorway remained closed while emergency services and traffic crews worked at the site. Traffic is still heavy so motorists should continue to allow extra travel time.
6.03pm:
The site has been cleared. Southbound traffic is still affected. A motorist near Pheasants Nest has reported traffic is “crawling”. Allow extra travel time and expect delays.

The driver of the vehicle and his dog are safe.

According to LiveTraffic, traffic is currently backed up 7.5km.
4.34pm:
Nine fire crews, including Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service, are still on the scene.
The operation is still ongoing, but crews are making headway.
According to a Fire and Rescue NSW media spokesperson, there are currently no reports of any injuries.
The truck was transporting fibre glass pools, and one of the pools caught alight but the cause of the fire is unknown.

One southbound lane has reopened on the Hume Motorway in Yerrinbool as the clean-up continues after a truck fire.
One southbound lane remains closed, but the diversion via Avon Dam Road, Lupton Road and the Old Hume Highway (Remembrance Drive) has been lifted.
Traffic is still very heavy, so motorists should continue to allow extra travel time and expect delays.
Emergency services and traffic crews are on site and a heavy tow truck is on the way to help move the truck.

The Hume Motorway remains closed in Yerrinbool due to a truck fire, however, a diversion is now in place for light vehicles.
Southbound light vehicles are being diverted onto Avon Dam Road, then Lupton Road and the Old Hume Highway (Remembrance Driveway) to rejoin the motorway at Alpine.
This diversion is not suitable for heavy vehicles, which are being parked at the site. There is a bridge on the diversion route with a height restriction of 4.1 metres.
Traffic is very heavy in the area, so motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time and expect delays.
Emergency services are still at the scene working to put the fire out.

Traffic on the Hume Highway is currently backed up 6km as the highway remains closed southbound. Delays of up to 35 minutes are expected. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. There is a detour for light vehicles. Heavy vehicles are being parked.
Light vehicle detour:
Light vehicles should turn right into Avon Dam Road, then use Lupton Drive, Old Hume Highway/Remembrance Driveway down to Alpine to rejoin the Hume Highway.
Heavy vehicles:
Heavy vehicles are advised that there is a bridge with a height restriction of 4.1 metres.
