The youngest pairing on the grid, Prodrive Racing’s Cam Waters and Richie Stanaway, were impressive in winning last month’s Sandown 500.
It was the maiden Supercars win for both men and understandably gave them a big confidence boost.
While co-driver Stanaway said he is “not one to speculate too much” when it comes to winning the Bathurst 1000, he rates his team a chance.
“Cam had a good run [at Bathurst] last year and finished fourth with Jack Le Brocq and we’ve got a fast car this year, so I can’t see why we couldn’t win it,” he said.
“In these longer races anything can happen, so we’ve just got to focus on doing our job as best we can in terms of getting the most out of ourselves and making sure we’re tuning the car in the best possible way.”
