Arts Fund chairperson Shelley Boyce said the evening will be a great way to connect with others who share a passion for the Arts.
“There'll be an opportunity to learn about the work of the Southern Highlands Arts Fund,” she said.
The Arts Fund aims to raise funds for activities that improve local community access to arts and cultural programs, especially children and young people.
“We hope people in the Highlands can generously donate funds to make these programs happen.” Ms Boyce said.
“This fundraising evening is a great way for the Highlands community to come together and show support for the Arts.”
The benefit evening will be held on on Thursday, October 12 at the New Empire Cinema Bowral starting at 6pm and will feature a screening of The Mountain Between Us starring Academy Award winner Kate Winslett and Golden Globe recipient Idris Elba.
Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snowcovered mountain. When they realise help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across the wilderness.
The film is based on the 2010 novel by Charles Martin.
Council's Deputy General Manager Corporate Strategy and Development Services Mark Pepping said the work of the Arts Fund was important to the Highlands.
“The Arts Fund will work with Council and other local groups to strengthen our local arts and cultural sector and its contribution to Southern Highlands community life,” he said.
Tickets will cost $25 and will include light refreshments. They can be purchased at the New Empire Cinema Bowral.
