The forecast was issued for the Snowy Mountains and parts of the Illawarra, South Coast and Southern Tablelands.

Locations which may be affected include Bowral, Braidwood, Goulburn, Cooma, Bombala, Nerriga, Captains Flat, Jindabyne, Perisher Valley, Charlotte Pass, Thredbo and Nimmitabel.

Vigorous winds are predicted over the Southern ranges.

Winds over the state's southeast are expected to remain today ahead of another cold front, which will skim across the south overnight tonight and Monday.

Damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h are likely about parts of the southern ranges and neighbouring areas today. The main time of concern is the afternoon, although northern parts of the warning area may see localised damaging gusts this morning.

Alpine areas above 1900 metres are expected to see damaging winds averaging 70 to 80 km/h, with gusts to 110 km/h, chiefly late Sunday afternoon and evening.

The NSW State Emergency Service advises that people should:

• Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.

• Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.

• Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.

• Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid on 131-388, or Endeavour Energy on 131-003, or Essential Energy on 132-080, as shown on your power bill.
