The “mufty day” on Tuesday, September 19 was a celebration of the students success in the school’s ‘Positive Behaviours for Success’ (PBS) program that aims to foster positive social skills, namely respect, responsibility and fairness.
Students dressed up in their house colours and were divided into year groups to play various activities, including egg and spoon races, face painting, and ball games like soccer, bin ball, dodge ball, and basketball.
There was also a sausage sizzle and a major prize raffle that aimed to raise money for the school’s “sister school” in Cambodia, which has recently had it’s library damaged by flooding.
Teacher Trish MacDonald described the PBS program as a “whole school welfare initiative that teaches students appropriate social behaviour”.
She said the mufty day was held to celebrate the success of the program and reward the students for their achievements.
“There are about 850 students at the school and most of them are here today, so we have had really good participation. It’s quite an active day and it’s been really good to see everyone getting involved,” she said.
