The 10th annual Del Throsby memorial day will be held at Moss Vale Showground from 8.30am on Sunday, September 24.
Moss Vale Pony Club secretary Vanessa Walker said the day was significant for club members.
“She passed away quite a few years ago in her paddock with her favourite horse,” Walker said.
“She was quite a big support of the Moss Vale Pony Club. She used to lend kids horses to ride and she had a school at her property.
"When the club decided to run the event, we decided it was a memorial day for Del because she was such an advocate for the club.”
The club has given young riders the opportunity to learn safety around a horse, learn about horse care and management, take on new challenges in a safe environment as well as make like-minded friends.
Walker said Del was a role model for many young riders in the club. “She just had such a passion for the horses and very special relationship with them,” Walker said. “We teach kids it’s all about the relationship you have with the animal, there’s so many different aspect rather than hopping on and going for a ride. “It’s the partnership, and Del had special partnership with her horses.”
